In 1981 Suzuki released the Rm 125 x. It took the moto x world by storm, it’s full floater rear suspension was by far the best of the era and the new water cooled engine provided the power to win. Other manufacturers had single shock rear suspension systems but none could match the rising rate of the full floater.

Here on this gallery page you can find some pictures taken by my dad of me racing my RM125 x way back in 82 & modern pictures of old RM125 ’s today.

Hopefully we will get some pictures of him kicking some butt.

Here’s Bob Sheppard’s RM125z . Lovely bike. Bob is from California. It’s great to see people keeping these old racers running. I like the cleaned off clutch cover the way it follows the line at the bottom so it’s not just a cleaned off circle. Looks quite trick.

Here are a few pictures taken way back in 1981 by my dad, what a great amateur photographer he was and still is.

Suzuki dominated the moto x line up in 1981.

Suzuki-Rm-125x-domination-o
Suzuki-RM125x-1981-twin-air or white power

Just as specialist tuners produce after market parts for bikes today, White Power or Twin Air (you tell us) produced a single sided air filter box for the Rm125x which made servicing easier and was supposed to increase airflow over the stock box and increase power. It also allowed more airflow to the shock which was prone to fading due to the hose being too long with a too small bore.

A picture of my own 1981 Suzuki RM 125 X modified on a very small budget as I was only 16 at the time.

I used to and still do think it looks pretty nice.

Oh Yeah, That stand. I only had it for 1 meeting & it got stolen. Hope you rot in hell!.

Here we have a well restored 1982 Suzuki RM125Z which was racing in the USA in May 2005. The owner is from California.

All the photos taken below were taken in 1982 and include mostly Suzuki RM125x models and a few Suzuki RM125Z models. Most people felt the RM125x was quicker than the RM125z.

RM125x restoration

Here is an 1981 RM125 X part way through a complete restoration. This bike belongs to Nigel, he has been working on this bike for two years. Welcome to the restoration club Nigel !. Thanks for the pictures.

RM125 81x

These pictures were sent to me by Warren Jimmieson from Australia. Looks a bit rough doesn’t it, well I can tell you I have seen large foto’s and it’s one of the most original bikes I have seen even down to the correct hose clips for the year. Guess what ? Warren will be 61 this year and he’s still describing how he loves to give it the gun. Cheers Warren.
